Research at Jülich shows that long-lived contrails usually form in natural ice clouds

A recently published article in Nature Communications show that long-lived contrails usually form in natural ice clouds. This work was performed by the IAGOS team at Julich with support from CICONIA and has important impacts on contrail avoidance as natural cloudiness is added to the picture which as so far been neglected.
